‘In A Spin Vinyl’ was founded by John Griffiths from HDR Music Group, and Rob & Jon Way from Recordways. All three co-founders have extensive experience in the music industry and music-related backgrounds. In 2023 John came up with the idea of producing limited runs of hidden gems and hard-to-find vinyl to meet the needs of discerning music lovers. As a result, the first two 7-inch vinyl singles are being released and launched in mid-April this year.
In A Spin Vinyl is a brand-new innovative record label, bringing hard-to-source rarities from the 60s Mod/R&B/Psych generation to the market. As collectors, we understand the frustration when you are unable to discover that obscure or niche vinyl for your collection.
Founding owner John stated “I have over 45 years of experience in the music business and am invested in ensuring the vinyl legacy. We have created a brand new record label producing high-quality vinyl releases, that are normally hard to find. In A Spin Vinyl re-release, interesting, original tracks with new liner notes in quality packaging. We offer direct sales to customers via our website but also offer wholesale options for the retailer”.
The first release from In A Spin Vinyl is from the enigmatic legend that was Duffy Power (Duffy’s Nucleus). A re-release of his incredible version of Hound Dog b/w Mary, Open The Door (IAS 7001). The title track opens with a virtuoso blues harp break, before showcasing Duffy’s fantastic and agonised blues tone. Originally released in 1968, this is now a true rarity of the era and has been reproduced in a limited hand-numbered picture sleeve, with an accompanying booklet, creating a package to be cherished.
The second release, is by The Traffic Jam (pre Status Quo), Almost, But Not Quite There b/w Wait A Minute (IAS 7002). Released in 1967, this was a very early incarnation of the Quo and sold very poorly, hence its rarity today. As with all releases from In A Spin Vinyl, it is produced with a limited hand-numbered picture sleeve and a booklet. With this release, the booklet is featuring extracts from an interview with Francis Rossi, conducted by John himself in November 2023. One quote from Francis Rossi about the title track was, “I like the song, apart from trying to be sexy, I find that embarrassing now. I like the solo and think it is of its time, and has a certain something”
We are currently finalising the next few releases, which will be as exciting as the first two. With brand-new picture sleeves, four-page inserts, and interviews from some original band members.
