What is Record Store Day?
RSD is a global celebration of independent record shops and vinyl culture. Launched in 2007, it’s become the go-to event for vinyl lovers, with limited-edition releases dropping exclusively in participating record stores. Whether you're after a rare reissue or a new live recording from your favourite band, it’s the perfect day to add something special to your collection. It’s also about community—bringing together artists, fans, and local shops to celebrate a shared love for music.
Phoenix Sounds and RSD
2025 marks our third Record Store Day since we took over the store and we’re more excited than ever to continue the tradition! As always, we’ll have a list of exclusive releases in advance, which we’ll share here on the website and on our social media channels. You’ll be able to review the list and let us know which records you’re most excited about, but please note, we can’t reserve any records. With stock being so limited and demand so high, it’s strictly first-come, first-served on the day!
What to Expect on Record Store Day
1. Exclusive Vinyl Releases: From rare reissues to one-off live recordings, RSD offers a diverse range of music across all genres. Whether you’re into rock, jazz, indie, or electronic, you’ll find something that piques your interest.
2. A Community Event: Record Store Day is about more than just the records—it’s about the vibe. Come down to Phoenix Sounds, soak up the atmosphere, and meet fellow collectors. There’s always a buzz in the air, with music fans coming together to support their local indie shop.
3. Pre-Order & Wish Lists: While we can’t reserve records, we’ll be sharing the release list with plenty of time for you to plan your favourites. You can mark the ones you’d like and we’ll do our absolute best to stock as many of your top picks as possible.

On attending Record Store Day, we want you to get the titles you crave and understand the disappointment you feel when your title has sold out (I have been there) but we can endeavour to source these after the event, so you don’t miss out. We have customers coming from all over Devon, Cornwall and Somerset and stock large quantities of all the main titles as well as the obscure ones too.
